Sebenza SAPS encourages safe driving this festive season
"Drivers should refrain from stopping on the side of the road as this makes them vulnerable to hijackers,” said Tsotsotso.
Sebenza SAPS joined forces with the JMPD and EMPD in a roadblock operation which focused on making roads in the area safer.
The operation was held on November 25 along Modderfontein and Zuurfontein roads.

The officers hit the ground running, in partnership with the well-known Arrive Alive campaign.
Sgt Sharon Tsotsotso, Sebenza SAPS spokesperson, said the campaign was a success with 16 traffic fines and 21 arrests made in connection to drunken driving.
In addition to hosting the operation, Tsotsotso shared some safe-driving tips.
“Drivers should refrain from drinking and driving as most road accidents during the festive season are caused by drunk drivers.

“Other dangerous activities drivers should refrain from is stopping on the side of the road as this makes them vulnerable to hijackers,” said Tsotsotso.
“If a driver wants to take a call they should rather use earphones or Bluetooth accessories in their car.
“If drivers feel exhausted Tsotsotso suggested that they rather stop at a garage or a shopping centre.
“The road safety operation is a continuous one. The community should expect to see traffic officials more on the roads.
“We ask that they bear with us because these operations are for their own safety,” Tsotsotso said.
