Royal Johannesburg set the stage for one of South Africa’s most prestigious junior golf events, the Balderstone Sports Institute (BSI) Silver Vase.
In 2025, BSI revived the golf tournament in partnership with Royal Johannesburg.
During the tournament, a strong field of junior golfers from BSI and the Central Gauteng Golf Union (CGGU) took to Royal Johannesburg, where they competed for the title that past champions such as Ernie Els, Richard Sterne and Charl Schwartzel had won.

According to BSI head of marketing Roger King, this year’s champion, Tyron Fletcher, delivered a composed and clinical performance.
He carded a three-under-par on the West Course, securing victory by a single stroke.
“His achievement continues the proud tradition of excellence associated with the Silver Vase,” said King.
King added that the event would not have been possible without the support of all partners.
BSI thanked Royal Johannesburg for hosting the tournament and preserving the legacy of this historic trophy, Srixon for its sponsorship and commitment to junior golf development, and the CGGU for collaborating to ensure the highest standard of competition.
“A heartfelt well done to all the players who participated.
“Your dedication, sportsmanship, and pursuit of excellence embody the spirit of the Silver Vase and ensure its continued prestige in South African golf,” said King.
