Edenvale SAPS have opened an inquest docket after the body of an elderly man was found at the Edenvale Sports Grounds this morning.

Edenvale SAPS spokesperson, Captain Jean Olckers, said the man’s body was found at approximately 6am by security officers.

He added that the man was declared dead on the scene.

“The identity of the deceased is known to the police,” said Olckers.

“His name cannot be released as we are trying to establish if his family has been notified of his death.”

Olckers said the matter will be investigated.
