The 26 and 29-year-old suspects were arrested on January 8 when vigilant officers, conducting a crime prevention operation, noticed their suspicious behaviour.

Edenvale SAPS spokesperson, Capt Jean Olckers, said police believe the suspects were in the area looking for vehicles to steal.

“The officers noticed the suspicious-looking vehicle and the unusual behaviour of the individuals and reported the matter,” said Olckers

“They were informed that the vehicle they had identified had been stolen from Mondeor and made the arrest soon after.”

Olckers said the men were charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

“The suspects are wanted for several cases in connection to theft of motor vehicles and possession of stolen motor vehicles across Gauteng.”

Olckers said officers are still investigating the matter and hope to return the vehicle to its owners.
