Toastmasters’ first meeting
The meeting saw a full programme of speakers in addition to speech evaluations.
Modderfontein Toastmasters Club held its first meeting of the year on January 12 at Eden Meadows, Greenstone.
The meeting saw a full programme of speakers in addition to speech evaluations.
It started with presentations discussing mentorship, followed by an announcement of the implementation of Pathways, a new training programme.

Pathways is a live, interactive online programme which teaches blogging and social media skills.
Awards for outstanding effort went to Ute Hartman for Best Speech Evaluation.
Best Impromptu Speaker went to Heetal Harkison.
Heetal visited Toastmasters for the first time and overcame his fear of public speaking.
He spoke for a minute on a topic he was given as he walked to the lectern to speak.

The award for Best Prepared Speaker went to Bokang Rajuili, who quoted from Beyoncé while discussing the merits of being a girl.
The club meets on the second and fourth Saturday of every month at 8am for 8.30am.
The next meeting is on February 9.
