Traffic safety officials came together to conduct a roadblock in an effort to create road safety awareness in the community.
Sebenza SAPS, JMPD, community police forums from Edenvale and Sebenza, together with several security companies, had an evening checkpoint in Modderfontein.
Authorities set up a barrier on Peace Street to stop and inspect traffic on February 8.
The joint operation was a success with 10 drivers arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and 15 traffic fines were issued during the operation.
Sebenza SAPS spokesperson Sgt Sharon Tsotsotso thanked ZFS, SOS, Nightguard, CPG, PNC, Servest and Imvula security companies as well as Edenvale and Sebenza CPF for their involvement in eradicating crime on the roads.
