Bingo popular with Bedfordview seniors

Bert Malyon from a retirement village in Edenvale played bingo-host to 34 players.

The Bedfordview Association for the Elderly (BAE) played bingo at the Bedfordview Library on February 28.

“The bingo is very popular, we play every last Thursday of the month and it is R5 for a card,” said Janet Brodrick, chairperson of BAE.

Brodrick said that the members of BAE have continued to grow due to bingo and the tours.

BAE members took a trip to the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens recently and will be going to the Buddhist Temple in Bronkhorstspruit, on March 27.

BAE members listen very closely for the winning numbers.

They will also be heading to the Blue Marlon in Scottburgh in April.

Recycling is also an important feature at BAE, where members are collecting polystyrene containers, cold-drink bottles, plastic tops and tags that are delivered to Interwaste in Germiston.

BAE members find bingo to be one of the best activities at BAE.

Moreover, BAE receives many guest speakers, such as Ward 20 Clr Jill Humphreys, who joined BAE for a talk in January and gave members information on the library.
