Six firearms, comprising hunting rifles and handguns, were found abandoned in a stormwater drain on Nottingham Road, Kensington, on March 16.
Several of the weapons, discovered by security guards, were loaded with ammunition.

According to Joburg SAPS Flying Squad spokesperson Sgt Desmond Subramoney, the guards contacted the police.
“Our members responded and managed to establish the firearms had been taken during a house burglary in Vereeniging on March 14. The weapons were recovered thanks to the security officers who found them. SAPS officers gathered them and booked them in at Cleveland SAPS. Investigations continue,” he said.
