St James shine at National Children’s Theatre

The young Shakespeareans of St James Preparatory shows how it is done.

The children of St James Preparatory School shone at the recent 2019 South African Council for English Education (SACEE) Shakespeare Monologue Competition held at the National Children’s Theatre.

The young actors participated confidently among a sea of secondary school learners from across a number of Joburg schools.

The children of St James Preparatory shone with five awards, including Best Scene.

Guided by their devoted teachers, the children’s hard work and love for Shakespeare attracted a number of awards, including the highly prized Best Scene Award which went to the Grade One class for their performance in Macbeth.

The Best Actress Award went to Grade Five learner Leisha Bhowan while Best Actor went the way of Grade Three learner Shahid Harilal.

Grade Three learner Tashvi Khusal scooped the award for Best Supporting Actress and Grade Four learner Kavish Ramdin, Best Supporting Actor.
