Taxi driver hands himself over to police after alleged road rage incident in Yeoville

The driver of a white Toyota Quantum taxi handed himself over to the police after an alleged road rage incident during which a motorist was shot in Yeoville on July 30.

“The man sustained two gunshot wounds, and two spent cartridges were recovered on scene,” said Yeoville SAPS spokesperson Capt Sifiso Mabizela.

He said the driver later handed himself over to the police.

The motorist was admitted to the intensive care unit at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital in a critical but stable condition.

“The suspect’s firearm was confiscated and police are investigating a case of attempted murder. We urge members of the public to stay calm on the roads,” said Mabizela.
