LATEST: Body of abandoned baby found in Harmelia dustbin

“Paramedics declared the child dead at the scene.”

Edenvale SAPS is investigating a case of concealment of birth after the body of an abandoned baby was found dumped in a dustbin.

The body was found yesterday (July 29) by a Harmelia guesthouse cleaner, who informed the police.

Edenvale SAPS spokesperson Sgt Jacob Mashile said the female child was covered with plastic and wrapped in a towel.

Paramedics and SOS security personnel attended the scene.

SOS security personnel also responded and were at the scene.

Mashile said the body was taken to the Germiston mortuary for further investigation.
