25 Animals sterilised at Edenvale SPCA

“Going forward we hope to have a sterilisation day every two months and then every two weeks.”

Twenty-five animals were recently sterilised when Edenvale SPCA held its first sterilisation day on its premises.

Of the total number of animals sterilised on October 30, 21 of them were pets of community members.

Inspector Jade Nel of the Edenvale SPCA said the procedures were carried out in the SPCA’s recently constructed sickbay.

“Going forward we hope to have a sterilisation day every two months and then every two weeks.”

Nel encouraged community members to pay close attention to the SPCA’s Facebook page for more information about the next sterilisation day.

Prices for the sterilisation of a dog or cat are R800 and R600, respectively, though costs may vary.

Manager of the SPCA Marita Acar urged community members to save up and book their slot once bookings are made available.

Besides offering sterilisations, the SPCA offers microchipping, deworming, vaccinations, inoculations and tick-dipping facilities.

Community members must phone the Edenvale SPCA beforehand to allow its staff to make the necessary preparations.
