Two dead after electrocution in Johannesburg

The first incident occurred at a High Voltage Chamber (HVC) situated inside a factory in Herriotdale.

Two men died as a result of electrocution in two separate incidents in Johannesburg, yesterday.

The first incident occurred at a High Voltage Chamber (HVC) situated inside a factory in Herriotdale near George Gogh.

It is believed that two employees at the factory entered the HVC to paint the chamber without City Power’s authorisation.

It is suspected that the deceased was electrocuted after he was caught between equipment in the chamber.

Paramedics certified the man dead on arrival.

His colleague was thrown out of the chamber and taken the hospital with serious injuries.

In the second incident, a body entangled in electric wiring was discovered near Princess informal settlement in Roodeport.
