
8 motorists were arrested by members of the EMPD speed and drug enforcement units on Friday and Saturday.
The arrests took place in Bedfordview, Alberton, Vosloorus and Boksburg.
On Friday night three motorists were arrested in the Boksburg area for travelling between 147km/h and 164km/h in areas designated for travel at 100km/h. The drivers were taken to the Boksburg North Police Station.
Shortly after 5am on Saturday morning a motorist in a BMW 5-series was caught traveling at 172km/h on N12 highway between Edenvale and Gillooly’s.
The 49-year-old was arrested and taken to the Bedfordview Police Station.
Three other motorists were caught breaking the speed limits in Alberton travelling at 172km/h and 161km/h. They were arrested and take to the Alberton Police Station.
One man was stopped and searched in Vosloorus on Saturday afternoon. He was found in possession of Khat and dagga valued at R820.
He was arrested and taken to the nearest police station in Vosloorus.
All those arrested will appear in court soon.
