Man sentenced 20 years for unlicensed firearm and ammunition

Muzi Khumalo (28) was found guilty for attempted robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm by Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on November 25.

He was sentenced to 15 years for attempted armed robbery and five years for possession of unlicensed firearm.

He was arrested on June 14, 2018, on Jules Street in Malvern by members of the Cleveland SAPS.

The arrest took place after a report of the attempted robbery was received by the police.

The complainant described the suspect and an officer arrested the suspect after he was found hiding at a residential property

The case was assigned to Det Const Nyiko Mashele for investigation.

“Criminals will get what they deserve and Cleveland SAPS will always serve the community with pride.
