Flying squad apprehends six, recovers vehicles

Members of the Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) apprehended six suspects, recovered five motor vehicles and one firearm between May 28 and 30.

After responding to an enquiry on Saturday, BFS members arrested two suspects on North Rand Road in Kempton Park.

According to WO Grant Giblin, BFS’s communications officer, the suspects were found in possession of crystal methamphetamine.

Giblin said during further investigations, three abandoned hijacked vehicles that had been reported in previous cases were discovered.

The vehicles included a white Toyota Corolla found on Amsterdam Street in Primrose that had been reported on a Germiston case, a white BMW X3 found in Esangweni Section in Thembisa that had been reported on a Bedfordview case, and a white Scania Truck found on Foxtrot Street in Boksburg that had been stolen in Alberton.

Members who were investigating at Windmill Park in Boksburg also detained two suspects, one of whom was found with an unlicensed firearm on Hadida Street.

The second was found in possession of Mandrax pills.

The two were apprehended and the firearm and drugs were confiscated.

In Benoni, a white Toyota Hilux that was reported stolen on a Lyttleton case on Saturday was found in Crystal Park.

“The vehicle was confiscated after it was allegedly used for the commission of theft.”

Members at Van Ryan Deep Pound allegedly discovered that two suspects were enquiring about the Audi Hilux that was reported stolen.
