Edenvale Bowling Club enjoy action galore

Thirty mixed teams from far and wide went head to head as they battled it out on Edenvale’s bowling greens for the R40 000 prize money.

Edenvale Bowling Club (EBC) started its year on a busy note, taking part in and hosting tournaments.

In mid-January, members from the club excelled after participating in the Ekurhuleni bowls mixed pairs.

The fixed pairs final was contested between two teams from EBC. EBC members B Wysoke and E du Toit beat M Phiri and Z Waters.

Also in mid-January, eight members of the club completed and passed a markers course run by the Ekurhuleni Bowls District.

Next, the bowling club hosted the inaugural Graham Mackenzie Memorial Trips.

The tournament, which is set to become an annual tournament, hopes to honour one of the greatest bowling coaches

Thirty mixed teams from far and wide went head to head as they battled it out on Edenvale’s bowling greens for the accumulated R40 000 prize money.

The winning team, featuring members from Kempton Park and Springs, took the first prize of R21 000. The runners-up were a team from Rustenburg.

In February, four members from EBC participated in the SA Masters held at Wingate Park.

Despite not bringing home any medals, they put on a good display of bowling.

Tabs at Edenvale Bowling Club are played on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Visitors are welcome.
