New caregiving training centre opens at Kensington Gardens
The centre was created with the purpose of equipping students with the knowledge, practical skills and core principles required for quality caregiving within the elderly care sector.
Flower Foundation Retirement Homes continues to expand its outreach and community development initiatives by establishing a new training centre at Kensington Gardens in Kensington.
The centre was created to equip students with the knowledge, practical skills, and core principles required for quality caregiving in the elderly care sector.

The year-long training programme prepares students for meaningful employment opportunities in caring for older persons while also addressing the growing need for compassionate, skilled caregivers within the community.

This initiative forms part of Flower Foundation’s broader outreach programme, aimed at uplifting communities through education, empowerment and skills development.
The Training Centre is managed by Sister Nomvula Mbokazi together with Flower Foundation’s Group Compliance Manager René Baker, whose guidance and leadership have been instrumental in bringing the initiative to life.
The official launch of the Training Centre occurred on May 6 and marked an important milestone for the organisation.
The event was attended by members of the Flower Foundation’s management board, senior management, and relevant members who have been part of this journey, as well as the first intake of students embarking on the programme.
Proceedings were led by Stanley Bawden, CEO of the Flower Foundation, and Nombuso Ramakgopa, chairperson of the Flower Foundation’s management board, who both shared words of encouragement and warmly welcomed the students into the Flower Foundation family as they began their learning journey.

The launch celebrated not only the opening of a new educational facility, but also Flower Foundation’s ongoing commitment to investing in people, supporting community upliftment and helping to shape the future of elderly care through education and training.
