Bedfordview Police nab suspect for robbery

Bedfordview SAPS arrested a suspect following a shooting at the intersection of Kloof and Van Buuren roads after a chase between the suspect and a motorist.

Bedfordview SAPS arrested a suspect on May 30 following a shooting at the corner of Kloof and Van Buuren roads.

The suspect has since been arrested for common robbery, reckless and negligent driving and detained at Bedfordview SAPS.

According to the corporate communications officer, Sergeant Lillian Modiga, police received a complaint about a shooting at the given address at about 12:10 on the day.

“The complainant was at a nearby restaurant enjoying a business lunch when he was approached by two unknown men.

“While the other suspect was threatening to kill him, the other snatched the victim’s cellphone, which was on the table,” said Modiga.

The suspects then fled in a BMW before a chase ensued between the car and another motorist who witnessed the incident.

“The suspects then collided with another car. The driver was then but the other suspects managed to get away.

“On further investigation, it was discovered that the suspect’s car was cloned with false registration,” said Modiga.
