Kidnapping breakthrough: missing Edenvale bank executive rescued, 5 arrested

A missing bank executive was rescued, multiple suspects were arrested and more victims freed during a multi-location operation spanning Ivory Park, Thembisa and OR Tambo.

A 54-year-old bank executive reported missing in Edenvale was reportedly rescued on Thursday, May 22 following a coordinated multi-location operation.

While the South African Police Service has yet to confirm details, private security firm Vision Tactical reported that the victim’s blood-stained vehicle was recovered in Ivory Park.

Several suspects in custody following a coordinated operation that led to the rescue of multiple kidnapping victims across Gauteng.

One suspect was arrested at OR Tambo International Airport while attempting to flee.

Authorities seized the victim’s phone and found evidence of a large sum transferred from his account.

Further raids in Thembisa led to the arrest of three more suspects and the recovery of stolen vehicles.

The collaboration of several role players saw high-risk recovery of several kidnapping victims.

During a second raid, two additional kidnap victims — including one hijacking victim — were discovered and freed.

A fifth suspect was arrested at the scene, and a third victim was later located and reunited with his family.

All victims received medical attention, and forensic teams processed multiple scenes.
