Driver injured in R24 shooting, police investigate

The Bedfordview SAPS responded to a shooting incident on the R24 freeway on 16 May.

The officers found a grey Infiniti with significant bloodstains, bullet holes, and shattered windows.

According to Bedfordview SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Lillian Modiga, the driver, an Ethiopian male, sustained injuries to his face and body.

“His brother reported unknown assailants in another vehicle opened fire on him while driving on the R24 freeway,” said Modiga.

The victim was rushed to the nearest hospital for medical treatment.

The Bedfordview SAPS is investigating the case of attempted murder.

Currently, there are no arrests, and the police are investigating to find those responsible.
