EMPD impounds unroadworthy taxis in Bedfordview

The EMPD has clamped down on unsafe public transport, impounding seven unroadworthy minibus taxis during an operation in the Bedfordview and Primrose areas.

The EMPD impounded seven unroadworthy minibus taxis during a recent public transport law enforcement operation by officers from the Germiston North precinct.

According to the EMPD spokespersons, officers stopped six Toyota Hi-Ace minibus taxis on the corner of Nicol and Bradford roads in Bedfordview.

The vehicles were deemed unfit for public use.

Later that day, a seventh unroadworthy Toyota Hi-Ace minibus taxi was stopped on the corner of Johann Rissik and Shamrock Road in Primrose, where it was discontinued and impounded.

All seven taxis were transported to the EMPD pounds in Alberton and Boksburg for safekeeping and further inspection.

The EMPD continues to intensify operations aimed at improving road safety and ensuring public transport vehicles are compliant with roadworthiness standards.
