Police investigate alleged workplace bullying after member’s death

The police has confirmed it is investigating allegations of workplace bullying involving one of its members, following reports that the issue may have contributed to the member’s death.

SAPS management said it is treating the allegations with seriousness and has initiated processes to establish the facts surrounding the incident.

A thorough investigation is under way to determine the circumstances and any contributing factors linked to the case.

At this stage, SAPS has urged the public, media and stakeholders to refrain from speculation or sharing unverified information, warning that this could compromise the integrity of the investigation and cause further distress to the affected family, colleagues and community.

The police service reiterated its commitment to the wellbeing of its members and emphasised a zero-tolerance approach to workplace misconduct, including bullying and harassment.
