Uncovered hole in Bedfordview angers locals
“The pit poses a challenge for cars trying to turn because they must manoeuvre into oncoming traffic."
Bedfordview citizens were left to grapple with the consequences of an appalling job done by metro staff – a gaping hole on the corner of Whittakers Way and Bradford Road.

The hole was left uncovered after the metro attended to a water leak that had been ongoing since March and was only repaired this month.

A pipe burst, leading to water flooding the roads and leaving residents feeling desperate because their appeals for help from the city went unanswered for three weeks.
The matter, reported on March 10, was eventually attended to on April 4.
Resident Gugu Ntshalintshali reported the matter, but nothing happened.

This sparked concerns from the residents about the possibility of an accident if the hole was left open.
“The pit poses a challenge for cars trying to turn because they must manoeuvre into oncoming traffic.
“There’s no signage to warn motorists either.

“We have tried to follow up with the metro daily, hoping it won’t take forever to get it fixed,” said Ntshalintshali.
She said she wasn’t hopeful that anything would happen anytime soon.
