Edenvale’s Terrace Road resurfacing project gets underway

After much anticipation and motorists having to dodge numerous potholes, repair work on Terrace Road has started.
Ward 19 Clr, Ald Bill Rundle, told the Bedfordview Edenvale News that the resurfacing of Terrace Road is a two-phase project.
The first phase has seen the road resurfaced and road markings repainted between Andries Pretorius Road and Plantation Road.

When the NEWS again visited Terrace Road on September 23, the painting of road markings was underway.
Rundle said repetitive requests had been made to the municipality by himself, community members and businesses for years in the hopes that repairs would be conducted on the road.
“After years of reporting, we are seeing results,” said Rundle.
“Terrace Road is in terrible condition, and the portion that needs to be resurfaced still has bad potholes, which community members complain bitterly about.”
Rundle added that this is not the only road repair project occurring in town; he said several other roads in Edenvale are also receiving attention.
Some of these roads include First Avenue, Dunvegan Avenue, Madge Road, Glendower Avenue, Frances Street, and Mullin Avenue.

Rundle said information about the projects has been shared on social media platforms; however, there remains some concern amongst the community about the speed at which Terrace Road is being resurfaced.
He said there are also concerns about the piles of tar which were left at the intersection of Plantation and Terrace roads.
Rundle said there is no need for alarm as the Terrace Road project was proceeding as intended and the rubble would be removed.

Rundle said although the project might not be occuring at the speed at which the community wants, it is a step in the right direction for the community and business in the area as a whole
A request for comment was sent to the City of Ekurhuleni on September 23, requesting comment by September 25 at 15:00.
The city was asked when the remainder of Terrace Road would be resurfaced and completed, how much the project cost, and when the piles of tar near the intersection of Plantation and Terrace roads.
At the time of going to print, no comment had been received.
