During that time, they taught him how to fly his drone safely, to execute specific manoeuvres, to use PYTHON programming language to program the drone’s flight and the ins and outs of basic drone protocol.

Edenglen High School invited community members and drone enthusiasts to learn more about the hobby through the Edenglen Droning Academy.

Set to commence later this month, enrollment will open at the end of January at Edenglen High’s Hall where a demonstration will also be conducted.

Edenglen learner Warrick Smal recently showed off some of his aviation skills when he flew his drone in the school’s gym.

Warrick attended the Edenglen Droning Academy, held by the school, between his Grade Eight to Grade 10 years.

During that time, they taught him how to fly his drone safely, to execute specific manoeuvres, to use PYTHON programming language to program the drone’s flight and the ins and outs of basic drone protocol.

“I got into drone piloting because of how versatile it is.

“Drone technology is used in many areas to assist people. For example, farmers may use drones to spray crops or deploy seeds,” said Warrick.

“Drone technology can increase productivity and decrease manpower and other costs.”

He said it can be used in wildlife sanctuaries to observe poachers and survey animals.

The academy plans to launch the next group programme this year.

Those interested should visit Edenglen High School’s Hall on January 27 at 09:00.
