South African Depression and Anxiety Group has three new support groups

SADAG adds three support groups to create more resources for those struggling with mental health.

The South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG) has announced the launch of three new free online support groups aimed at bringing accessible mental health support to communities nationwide.

SADAG constantly aims to create more free mental health resources, by providing safe and inclusive spaces for people to connect, share experiences, and access support from the comfort of their homes.

“Having just celebrated our fourth annual Support Group Awareness Week, we are excited to welcome three new diverse support groups to the SADAG support group family, which currently hosts over 170 free mental health support groups around the country,” said the SADAG project manager, Krystle Kemp.

Amber-Leigh, newly appointed SADAG support group coordinator, said, “All three support groups that are launching have support group leaders that already run other SADAG support groups and are expanding their support group offerings.

“This is a profound testament to what it means to be part of the SADAG support group portfolio.”

She is encouraging anyone interested in starting a support group to reach out to supportgroups@anxiety.org.za to find out more about SADAG’s free online support group leader training.

They welcomed a new support group to be hosted by Will for unemployed graduates on February 15, at 18:00 on Zoom.

A first of its kind for SADAG, a support group for family members and loved ones of those living with borderline personality disorder run by support group leader Karen, will start on February 8 from 19:00 to 20:00 on Google Meet.

A support group for depression, anxiety and grief hosted by Vanessa started on February 6 at 18:30.

“Access to supplementary mental health support is crucial, especially during these challenging times,” said Cassey Chambers, operations director at SADAG.

“Our free online support groups enable individuals from diverse backgrounds to come together, support one another, and find the compassion and understanding needed to navigate their mental health journeys.”
