Suspects caught with stolen vehicle and unlicensed firearm in Leondale

The arrests were made by the members of the Gauteng PES FLEXI Unit while following the lead on the whereabouts of suspects who had hijacked a truck in Bedfordview on April 19.

Four suspects have been arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms, ammunition and possession of a suspected stolen vehicle in Leondale.

Bedfordview SAPS communications officer Sergeant Lillian Modiga said, “Upon searching the suspects, the driver had a firearm (Glock 19) and the serial number was filed off. The front passenger was in possession of a firearm (Garson) with the serial number and a licensed card, and the rear right passenger was found with a firearm (Glock 19) and the serial number filed off.

“They were informed of their rights and placed under arrest. Members searched the property where they had parked in front of and noticed a white Toyota Hilux. Upon testing the registration plate it had no information. The VIN came out as a silver Hilux,” said Modiga.

Further investigations revealed the vehicle was wanted by the police at Wonderboompoort in 2019.

The suspects were detained at the nearest police station.
