Edenvale Lions Basketball Academy prepares for Vale Tournament

Edenvale Lions Basketball Academy will host a second activation TVT in preparation for the Vale Tournament (TVT)
Set to be held on May 25 and 26 at 09:00, the event hopes to attract more than 40 teams, with most of them attending the first activation event in March.

The event hopes to attract over 300 male and female basketball players

It will cater for U18, U23 and senior players.

The event will be free and community members are encouraged to support their teams.

Coach and co-founder of the academy, Edson Makavan, explained that the academy had partnered with FNB which will be providing financial literacy to those in attendance on the day.

“FNB will be providing prizes, educational hampers and more on the day. By partnering with big brands such as FNB and Brand SA, it shows that the academy is being taken seriously and that there is progress,” said Edson.

He said it had always been a dream of the academy to partner with big brands.

“It’s empowering and energising to partner with sponsors. It takes stress off the club knowing that there is support.”

Edson said the activation events are being held in preparation for the annual TVT which will be held at Ellis Park.
The November TVT will have R1m up for grabs.

“The Ellis Park TVT needs to happen this year, everyone has put so much time and effort into it and we are so close to achieving it.”

The second activation event will be held at the Lions home grounds at Edenvale Sports Grounds.
