Inyoni Creek hosts Heritage Day fun

The day was a perfect mix of celebration and culture.

The Inyoni Creek Retirement Village’s residents and staff came together for a braai when it hosted its Heritage Day celebrations.

Held on September 27, the day was filled with fun, food and tradition.

Inyoni Creek staff members Francinah Mgabhi, Johanna Lebisi and Margaret Machaba enjoy the festivities.

“The excitement began at the clubhouse, where the staff donned colourful traditional outfits, bringing the spirit of Heritage Day alive,” said Inyoni Creek manager Jenny Tonkin.

“Residents who joined the celebration enjoyed a lively braai, savouring delicious food while sharing laughter and stories,” she added.

In a blend of Heritage Day and Arbor Day traditions, the team moved to the pool centre to plant a lavender tree donated by Servest.

Lyn Hood and Sue Parkes enjoy their ice creams.

“With the new footbridge at South block as the backdrop, staff and Servest united to plant the tree, symbolising growth, unity, and the deep roots of Inyoni Creek’s community.

“The day was a perfect mix of celebration, culture and giving back to nature, a memory that will grow just like the lavender tree,” said Jenny.
