Residents of local centres unite to donate a geyser to hospital
The funds to purchase the geyser were donated and raised through raffles.
Residents from Ron Smith Care Centre and Elphin Lodge Retirement Village spread warmth and kindness when they donated a geyser to Rahima Moosa Mother and Child Hospital.
The donation of the 200l geyser was done on October 10. It marked the culmination of the resident’s Mandela Day project.
Neeri Stroebel of Elphin Lodge said the funds to purchase the geyser were donated and raised through raffles.
The geyser will be installed in the hospital’s Kangaroo Mother Care Unit.

Earlier in the year, at a meeting between Elphin Lodge, the RSCC team and paediatrician professor Keith Bolton, it was revealed that the unit did not have hot water.
Addressing this became the core focus of this extended Mandela Month project.
Earlier this year care packages, blankets and hand-knitted Teddy bears were handed to mothers at the unit on July 26. The hospital’s Willow therapy room was also revamped.
All who were involved were thanked for their dedication and hard work.
