Thembalami Care Centre stimulates minds of elderlies in activities

Thembalami Care Centre hosted a Forget-Me-Not event, specifically designed for the residents of its Ibis wing who live with dementia.
The centre’s recreation and nursing teams collaborated to create an engaging activity day.
The day focused on providing joy and stimulation for the residents.

It featured a variety of activities.
Some of the activities included:
• Ball games – fun and interactive games to promote physical activity and cognitive engagement.
• Muffin icing – a hands-on activity that allowed residents to express their creativity and enjoy a delicious treat.
• Hand printing – a meaningful activity where residents’ handprints were framed alongside their pictures and names to create a cherished memory board.
“By organising such events, we aim to enhance the quality of life for individuals living with dementia and create lasting memories,” said Thembalami’s occupational therapist Tsakani Shihlomule.
