United front aims tackle issues plaguing Edenvale

Stakeholders from across Edenvale came together to address criminal and social obstacles impacting the community.
Held at the end of January, the meeting took place in the Edenvale Chambers and was coordinated by City of Ekurhuleni social worker Xolani Mthiyane.
According to Edenvale SAPS acting Vispol commander and communication officer W/O Jacob Mashile the multi-sectoral approach stressed the need for coordinated efforts to effectively address challenges such as GBV, femicide, and drug and substance abuse.

“The objective of the highly interactive meeting was to explore innovative and proactive means to combat crime through maximum use of the stakeholders and resources at their disposal.
“Furthermore it was held to increase stakeholder participation in the fight against crime, to maximise resources through shared activities with private security and other stakeholders and to improve coordination between stakeholders and the SAPS.”
It was requested by Mashile that the neighbouring Sebenza, Kempton Park, Primrose, Bedfordview and Sandringham police stations be invited to become part of the initiative.
Edenvale Police Station’s station commander Colonel Ntombomzi Basholo welcomed the initiative.
