During the 20-minute game which is divided into two 10-minute halves, teams of five members need to score as many goals in the opposing team’s net as possible. Players use paddles and their hands to control the ball.

In instances when the ball is out of reach for players, they will need to paddle to the ball’s location before the opposing team obtains it.

Scout group leader of Third Kensington David Costine explained that the competition, which occurs in round robin format, includes sea scout troops from across the region.

He said cubs, junior scouts and senior scouts compete in their respective age groups to claim victory.

“Third Kensington was recently in the fortunate position of being able to purchase five new Vuvubats [kayak used for canoe polo] for the troop,” said Costine.

“This was the first time that they were put into action.”
