Life Bedford Gardens brings empowerment on pregnancy awareness
The awareness day was held for parents and prospective parents to gain advice from experts.
Parents and parents-to-be attended the Life Bedford Gardens annual pregnancy awareness day.
Held on February 22, the day focused on empowerment and providing community members with essential information.
Pregnancy Awareness Week is observed from February 12 to 16.

According to Chantelle du Plessis, marketing and communication manager of Life Bedford Gardens Hospital, they aimed through the event to educate the community about what to expect when expecting.

“It allowed parents and prospective parents the chance to gain advice from experts and practical skills to help them make informed choices for themselves and their babies,” said Du Plessis.
During the event, Life Bedford Gardens Hospital professionals shared their knowledge and insights on all stages of pregnancy, birth, and post-pregnancy.
Some speakers at the event included obstetrician and gynaecologist Dr Sandra Fonseca, paediatrician Dr Daniel Azar and Dr Masala Mathaba, histopathologist/cytopathologist from Lancet Laboratories.

Other speakers included an audiologist, a stemcell consultant, a breastfeeding consultant and a sonographer.
“We had a turnout of over 70 moms and dads, treated with a morning full of talks by professionals on what to expect when expecting,” said Du Plessis.

Speaking about the importance of the awareness day, Du Plessis said they are very informative to the community.

“Life Bedford Gardens Hospital is a community hospital. The awareness days educate and stress the important issues that promote healthy pregnancy and safe motherhood.”
