City of Ekurhuleni says medication was not stolen in Klopperpark Clinic robbery

The perpetrators broke the perimeter fence and opened a hole on the corrugated iron roof sheet to gain entry into the facility.

The City of Ekurhuleni has confirmed the burglary in at Klopperpark Clinic is under investigation.

This comes after the assailants broke into and ransacked the municipal clinic at around midnight on March 9.

According to CoE spokesperson Zweli Dlamini, service delivery at the clinic was paused on March 10.

He said this was to allow police and the city’s Real Estate Department officials to carry out investigations.

The clinic resumed operations on March 11.

Elaborating on how the suspects gained entry to the property Dlamini said, “They broke the perimeter fence and opened a hole on the corrugated iron roof sheet to gain entry into the facility.”

Dlamini said a single male security officer, contracted from a private security company, was on duty at the time.

“The security guard was restrained before the crime being committed.”

He said six all-in-one computers, three CPUs, two computer monitors, three television sets, one lab cell phone, and a tablet were taken from the clinic.

“No medication was stolen,” said Dlamini.

Although the CoE could not elaborate on details with the public on how security infrastructure would be improved, Dlamini said they would be bolstered.
