Beloved administrator of Edenvale Hospice says goodbye

“I enjoyed the time I had with all the patients and the emotional times I shared with them.”

Marlene Hooper, a well-known face among the Edenvale community, has stepped down as the Edenvale Hospice Care Centre’s administrator.

After assisting at the centre for six years, Hooper stepped down at the end of March.

She said that when at the centre, she helped create a strong support network of community members and businesses willing to assist the NPO.

She thanked everyone who supported the care centre.

Hooper said the centre was never left wanting. “With the help of the community and businesses, it was just a matter of asking, and the support would always be there.”

She explained that leaving was a sad day for her.

“I established wonderful relationships with the staff and the students while there.

“I enjoyed all the time I had with the patients and the emotional times I shared with them,” said Hooper, saying she left the centre because she felt it was no longer the place for her.

Without elaborating, she said she had recently become immensely stressed and was worried about her health.

With the close of the chapter at the care centre, Hooper looks forward to new endeavours like assisting local charities and NPOS.
