Community spirit shines at Edenvale seniors’ lunch

Held at the Edenvale Community Centre, the pink-themed event celebrated moms with festive décor, flowers, and a warm sense of togetherness.

The Edenvale Senior Citizens’ Society (ESCS) recently treated community members to a Mother’s Day lunch when it hosted a themed lunch.

Held on May 15 at the Edenvale Community Centre, the lunch celebrated mothers everywhere.

With a pink theme, the tables and walls were adorned with decorations, while colourful pink serviettes, flowers and balloons added to the day.

According to ESCS committee member Linda Ranwell, 70 of Edenvale’s elderly attended the three-course lunch plus tea or coffee priced at R80.

There was a raffle in the afternoon, and Ranwell said seven guests won goodies ranging from toiletry sets and wine to a fruit basket.

The ESCS hosts themed lunches monthly to help raise funds for the society. They are open to the community, but attendees must book three days beforehand.

The ESCS advertise these lunches on its Facebook page. The next lunch is in June to celebrate Father’s Day.

“We hope many Edenvale seniors come,” said Ranwell.

“We have a car guard to watch the cars, a hairdresser and beauty therapist on site, plus all the activities available each morning.”
