Edenvale firm supports children’s home

“The love they have shown to the children has been amazing."

Families and friends gathered at the Edenvale-based German Club, where smiles and laughter filled the day, as JAS Forwarding SA’s headquarters gave back to Kempton Park charity Villa Le Themba Children’s Home.

Charity events coordinator and JAS operations manager, Antonette Kruger, explained that this year the company chose to support the children’s home, which cares for 12 children with special needs and disabilities.

“Over the past few months, we have actively participated in initiatives aimed at making a meaningful difference in the lives of these children.

“Our efforts included fulfilling their wishlist, providing for their needs, and organising enjoyable activities and outings,” said Antonette.

She added that JAS staff spent time with the children and staff at Villa Le Themba over several months through various events.

The event held on May 31 at the German Club marked the culmination of their efforts. Hampers were handed over to the home, along with a cheque for $1 000 (R17 756).

Antonette noted that the cheque was made possible through contributions from the Jas Worldwide Bruni Foundation, managing director Bruce Gerber, branch manager Nadene Morgan, national sales manager James Roux, data and price manager Jason Ankiah, and national financial manager Michele Wynne-Griffith.

She thanked the sponsors and JAS staff for their generous contributions and support, calling the project a resounding success.

“We were able to bring joy and hope to these children,” she said.

Centre manager of Villa Le Themba Children’s Home, Heleen Haasbroek, said the love shown by JAS and its staff had been overwhelming.

“The children absolutely love their visits,” she said.

Heleen added that while the home receives a government subsidy, it still relies heavily on donations and community support.

Antonette extended her gratitude to the JAS team for their dedication, time, and contributions that made the initiative possible.
