Bedfordview CPF strengthens fight against crime with new leadership
Bedfordview CPF will elect its executive structure on June 18.
The Bedfordview SAPS held its CPF Sector 1 sub-forum elections on May 21 at the Nicol Hotel.
The newly elected executive members are Pieter Meyer (chairperson), John Rocha (deputy chairperson), Jock Dippenaar (secretary), Dr Mandy Laskey (deputy secretary), Tummy Blaff (PRO) and additional member Cindy Hong.
Station commander Colonel Wellington Mathiane addressed attendees and highlighted key crime concerns in Sector 1, including house robberies in enclosed areas, street robberies, and carjackings.

He emphasised the importance of strong cooperation between the community and the police in effectively combating crime.
The interim chairperson provided an overview of the roles and responsibilities of the Sector 1 executive, reaffirming the CPF’s commitment to improving safety and security in the local area.
“CPF members play a vital role in reducing crime in the area,” said SAPS communication liaison officer Sergeant Lillian Modiga.
Sector 2 elections were held the following evening, May 22, at the Bedfordview Scout Hall. The event was attended by SAPS members, the Community Safety Youth Desk, and Ward 20 Clr Jill Humphreys.

Mathiane noted that Sector 2 faces similar challenges to Sector 1, with house robberies, street robberies, and carjackings being the most pressing issues. He encouraged continued collaboration between residents and the police.
The newly elected Sector 2 executive members are Jacques Steyn (chairperson), Darren Fox (deputy chairperson), James Chang (secretary), Morris Mabuza (deputy secretary), Laila Smith (PRO) and additional member: Arthur Hendry.
The CPF’s overarching executive committee elections are scheduled for June 18.
