Storm damage in Edenvale leaves trees blocking roads and traffic lights affected

Municipal teams are clearing fallen trees and repairing damaged traffic lights after a severe storm hit Edenvale.

Following the severe rain and hailstorm in Edenvale, several trees have been reported blocking roads.

According to Lisa Atkins of Ward 18’s Environmental Development portfolio streetlights and even some traffic lights were also affected by the storm.

She said the energy and parks departments have been notified of the affected areas and are working on the most critical sites during the intermittent rain before evening falls.

Atkins said assistance from departments outside of Edenvale had been requested.

She said at Amanda Road, there is streetpole and tree down across the road.

Atkins said the energy team has made the site safe however they await crane truck to lift streetpole and Thembisa parks team to move the tree today.

She said the tree will be cut fully tomorrow.

Other roads affected:

●Short Street, between Main Rd and High Road. It Will be attended tomorrow as no access is being blocked

●Fourth Avenue will be attended tomorrow.

● The Corner of Andries Pretorius Road and van Jaarsveld Road will be attended tomorrow

●Palliser Road will be attended tomorrow.

●Fourteenth Avenue, will be attended tomorrow.

●Fifteenth Avenue will be attended tomorrow.

●Thirteenth Avenue, blocking entrance to residence – will be attended tomorrow.

●Edward Drive, Dowerglen, will be attended tomorrow.

●Herman Rd, Two traffic lights down from Makro (Ward 92)Primrose Parks will attend
