Edenvale knitters spread warmth through charity for 15 years
The Leisure View Village knitting group in Edenvale has spent 15 years creating baby packs and clothing for the elderly, supporting hospitals, homes, and charities across South Africa.
For the past 15 years, the knitting ladies of Edenvale-based Leisure View Village have been busy knitting for charity and for the less fortunate.
Over the past year, more than 500 baby packs comprised of jerseys, blankets, beanies, booties, and other items were knitted by the Leisure View Village knitters and distributed to various charities, homes, and hospitals.
All the premature baby items are sent off to the Zoe Project at the Mowbray Government Hospital in Cape Town.
This group also knits beanies, knee rugs, bed socks, and scarves for the elderly.

The group of approximately 25 women, who are all pensioners, rely on donations, raffles, or money from their own pockets to continue helping others.
The group meets once a week in the Leisure View Village Community Center to continue this project of love.
According to organisers Cheryll Clark and Pat Clifford, this group started as a breakaway from a charity group, known as MAD (Making A Difference) knitters, which started at the Janet Brown Hall of the Edenvale Methodist Church 25 years ago.
Should community members wish to make a donation of wool, contact Cheryll Clark on 082 741 2846 or Pat Clifford on 082 571 1806.
Donations can be left at Leisure View Village at 203 First Avenue, Edenvale.
