Central Gauteng Athletics elects new leadership for 2026–2030 term
Central Gauteng Athletics has concluded its quadrennial elections, with Karabo Mabilo elected president as the organisation ushers in a new four-year leadership term.
Central Gauteng Athletics has announced the successful conclusion of its 2026 quadrennial general elections, which were held on January 24.
The newly elected board and commissions will serve the organisation for a four-year term.
The elections were independently conducted and overseen by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) in accordance with the CGA constitution and governance requirements, reaffirming the organisation’s commitment to transparency, credibility, and democratic leadership within athletics administration.

Karabo Mabilo was elected president, with Lethabo Mashigo elected as deputy president. Maggie Dicks was elected track and field chairperson, Val Brentano as cross-country chairperson, Cindy Nkomo as road running chairperson, and Tiyani Khoza as athletes’ chairperson.
Additional members elected to the CGA Board include Dirk van Zyl, Queen Mofokeng, Llale Seema, and Alain Achter.
To support the board’s work and strengthen governance and athletics development across all disciplines, CGA confirmed the appointment of several commissions.
The Road Running Commission will be led by deputy chairperson Mehlo Hlabangane, with support from members Lucas Mongatane, Mishack Ndlovu, and Johannes Mashigo.
The Track and Field Commission will have Stone Ntheleng Mosime serving as deputy chairperson, with Connie Tsiu, Patsy Ramogale, and Yvonne Whiting appointed as additional members.
The Athletes’ Commission will be supported by deputy chairperson Lebogang Phalula, together with members Mpho Mabuza, Tolamo Maubane, and Prince Jali.

The Cross Country Commission will be led by deputy chairperson Dithapelo Tumane and supported by members Mpuse Tshabalala, Ben Mohlakane, and Lucky Thato.
CGA president Karabo Mabilo expressed appreciation for the confidence clubs have shown in the newly elected leadership, noting that the Board and Commissions comprise a diverse and experienced group with a strong commitment to strengthening governance, supporting clubs and athletes, and growing athletics across the province.
Central Gauteng Athletics extends its gratitude to the IEC, club delegates, and all other stakeholders for their participation in the elections and continued support for CGA.
