St Benedict’s community celebrates Robin Lydall’s Papal Order of St Gregory honour

Robin Lydall has been awarded one of the Holy See’s highest honours, recognising his 33 years of service on St Benedict’s College board and his lifelong commitment to Catholic education and values.

At a ceremony and Mass held at St Therese Parish on May 13, Cardinal Stephen Brislin, representing Pope Leo XIV, awarded Robin Lydall the Pontifical Equestrian Order of St Gregory the Great.

“The Order of St Gregory the Great is one of the five orders of knighthood of the Holy See and is bestowed upon Catholic men and women by the Holy Father in recognition of their personal service to the Catholic Church and its affiliated institutions, as well as the example they set within their communities and countries,” explained St Benedict’s head of marketing, communications and admissions, Mpumi Motsabi.
