Special vote applications open for 2026 Local Government Elections
Special vote applications are now open. Find out who qualifies, when you need to apply and how to make sure you can cast your vote before Election Day.
Applications for special votes for the 2026 Local Government Elections opened on September 21, giving eligible voters who cannot vote at their voting station on Election Day an opportunity to cast their ballots early.
Applications close on October 12 at 17:00.

The special voting process is available to registered voters who will be unable to vote at their voting station on Election Day, November 4, including:
• People living with disabilities
• Pregnant women
• Elderly voters
• Voters who will be away from their voting station because of work-related commitments
• Special votes will be conducted on November 2 and 3, ahead of Election Day.
Eligible voters can submit their applications through the Electoral Commission’s online special vote application portal.
