Twenty-three dancers from Reddam House Bedfordview have been selected to represent South Africa.

This follows an impressive series of performances at the 2026 South African Body of Dance (SABOD) Nationals.

The dancers competed at the nationals under the Lucia Cunningham Dance Academy, where they are trained, and earned national team colours across Performing Arts, Street Dance and
Acrobatic Sport South Africa Acrodance.

They will represent South Africa at International Dance Organization championships in Slovenia and Poland later this year. Lucia Cunningham is also head of Dance at Reddam House Bedfordview.

The 23 selected dancers are Alexxa Castis-Jara, Ava Verschuren, Chelsea Pietrouisti, Christy Kao, Georga Castis-Jara, Henrique Neves, Iminathi Jalile, Jaimie-Lee Ennion, Jorja Harvey, Kattie Kao, Khanyisile Ngwetsheni, Kiara Baptista, Landile Keswa, Lebone Mabogwane, Lefentse Monyepao, Lwazi Ndlovu, Mia Verschuren, Mika Olfsen, Roan Stanbury, Sienna Toich, Stacey-Lee Bailey, Zamani Masasanya and Zea Morgan.

The national results reflected the breadth of talent among the Reddam House Bedfordview dancers and the quality of their training through the Lucia Cunningham Dance Academy, with podium finishes across ballet, jazz, modern, showdance, acrodance and street dance show.

Sienna Toich delivered an outstanding set of results, earning first place in ballet repertoire, jazz solo and modern solo, as well as first-place finishes in jazz, ballet and showdance duets with Roan Stanbury.

She also placed second in classical ballet and qualified for the South African Acrodance team in both acro solo and acro duet, securing a first place.

Roan Stanbury added second place in ballet repertoire and showdance solo, third place in jazz solo and classical ballet, and several duet medals to the school’s results.

Henrique Neves achieved first place in ballet repertoire and in a ballet duet with Jorja Harvey, second place in improvisation and modern solo, and podium finishes in classical ballet, jazz duet, modern duet and showdance solo.

Other notable results included a second-place jazz duet finish for Kiara Baptista and Jaimie-Lee Ennion, a second-place modern duet finish for Jorja Harvey and Sienna Toich, and further podium finishes for Ava Verschuren, Zamani Masasanya, Jorja Harvey and Jaimie-Lee Ennion.

In acrodance, Sienna Toich and Alexxa Castis-Jara qualified for national colours in the Acro Duet category, while Landile Keswa and Zamani Masasanya each earned second place in street dance show. The Game Time small group also placed second.

The school’s dancers additionally secured first place for the Rise Again Modern Formation and Screaming Whispers Modern Small Group, while the Gaga Express Jazz Small Group achieved second place.

“These results reflect not only the talent of our dancers, but also the discipline, resilience and commitment behind every performance,” said Stephen Hazley, executive head of Reddam House Bedfordview.

“We are immensely proud of all 23 dancers who earned the opportunity to represent South Africa. Whether they qualified through a solo, duet or group performance, each has contributed to an exceptional achievement for the Reddam House Bedfordview dance community.”

The national-team contingent comprises current Reddam House Bedfordview learners and three members of the school’s 2025 matric class.
