Carolyn Steyn and her team recently paid a visit to Jeppe High School for Girls.
Steyn, a philanthropist, honorary member of the Jeppe Girls community, media personality, and founder of the non-profit organisation 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day, has long been an inspiration to many.
In recognition of her impact, she was awarded the French Ordre National du Mérite in 2022, one of the highest honours bestowed by the President of France.

According to Marketing and Public Relations Officer of the school, Sadé Marion, the assembly with Steyn was nothing short of inspiring.
“Our very own Ms Pearson, an art teacher with over three decades of service and a passionate crocheter, spoke about how the craft has shed its outdated stigma.
“Once considered an activity only for the elderly, crocheting has become universally embraced by learners, athletes, and communities across continents, from Africa to Australia,” said Sadé.
Sadé added that Pearson reminded the school that crochet is not only about helping others but also about finding joy and creativity in what we do for ourselves.
The programme continued with words from Ruth First Trust Manager Robyn Hill and Kevin Tait, who both thanked Steyn for her unwavering dedication.

They reflected on how her passion has created a ripple effect, touching countless lives, and urged everyone to never underestimate the influence their own passions and choices can have on others.
The school choir and orchestra added to the magic of the day, filling the hall with angelic voices and music that uplifted the spirit.
Learners who recently visited Masiqhakaze High School for a stationery drive shared reflections and a poem about their experience, encouraging everyone to choose gratitude each day and to appreciate the importance of self-worth.
Steyn, in turn, praised Jeppe Girls as the best school in the world. She thanked the learners for their contributions of blankets, emphasising how small actions ripple outwards, spreading love, kindness, and hope, ultimately building a brighter future together.
