Parties should stop pushing their agenda and push the people’s agenda.
Busi Vilakazi
After all is said and done, the dust of elections has nearly settled.
Now the big question is where to from here?
Parties were all focused on selling voters the dream but it makes me wonder if the parties were really ready to put work into what they were promising voters.
As you serve different wards it has different needs and challenges – are they prepared to get their hands dirty?
The election left a number of parties surprised with the results as they were punished at the voting stations.
Does this mean they will have to work hard to fulfil the promises they made to the few who still believe in them?
If you want to increase the numbers for 2019, now is the time to prove yourself to the people.
This is a wake-up call to re-evaluate your focus.
One thing I understand when serving the community is it should not be based on the number of votes you receive.
It should be based on delivering to address the needs of the people.
When one fights for survival, one will do anything to get hold of what looks like a lifeline for survival.
People have been living in dire situations where they need to be delivered from their situation.
Sadly, parties have lost their humanity. Power has shifted but what guarantees do residents have that those in power would serve them well?
Sadly, we do not have any guarantees besides faith and hoping for the best.
Everyone fights to be in power and promises to do better, but would they really do better?
We did not see any initiatives that assured the people that you are serious in changing their lives.
Honestly all we have heard from other parties is how those in power have failed to achieve this.
We have not really heard what the party stands for and what it will bring to the table.
All we know is power in some areas was taken from those who have been leading and will possibly go to those promising the land of milk and honey.
How are we going measure those new leaders? Ask yourself if those new leaders in power are really delivering and whether they have brought change to addressing your needs?
Parties should stop pushing their agenda and push the people’s agenda.
