Edenvale Hospital commended

My wife and I went to Edenvale Hospital for the delivery of our first born daughter on August 1.

We delivered around 8.30pm.

Despite being Zimbabweans, we were treated equally and professionally. Every interaction with the midwives and sisters was a marvel. They were professional, courteous and polite, with a good attitude, prompt service and a very clean and secure environment.

There are many horror stories about public hospitals in this nation, but my perception now, especially that of Edenvale Hospital, has changed. These ladies are indeed a good example of dedication and professionalism in public health care and deserve special mention to the world.

Not a single time did I enter the Post Natal Ward without security first asking me to identify myself and, most importantly, my wife’s name. This, I later realised, is to curb baby thefts which are rife here in South Africa. May the Gauteng Provincial Health Department know that they have jewels in their midst at Edenvale Hospital.

Special mention goes to a sister / midwife called Palesa, who assisted us during the day-shift and the other sister (whose name has escaped me) who assisted us in the night.

Please give them a Bells (only on their off days)!

Hats off to them.
