Edenvale boxer defends his title in tournament

Malajika, said he was confident he would retain his belt when he met Braithwaite in the ring.

Edenvale’s Ricardo Malajika defended his IBO World Junior Bantamweight title on Friday night.

Malajika was one of the boxers in the headline bout of the Power House Box and Dine tournament at Emperors Palace.

Other boxers who faced off included SA and ABU heavyweight champion Keaton Gomes who took on challenger Shaun Potgieter.

At a pre-fight conference and weigh-in at the Palace of Dreams on April 3, Ricardo Malajika said he was confident he would retain his IBO World Junior Bantamweight title when he met United Kingdoms’ Marcel Braithwaite in the ring.

Darrin Rossouw took on Brandon Thyssse in a junior middleweight contest that was scheduled for 10 rounds.
